形態特徵

• Plants 2.5-3.5 m.
• Petiole 0-2.5 cm long. Blade 70-105 by 9-20 cm, oblong to oblanceolate, apex acuminate, base oblique, glabrous on both surface except margin; ligule 1 cm long, entire to bilobed, coriaceous, outer surface hairy.
• Inflorescence racemose, erect, with spinous hair, 25-35 cm long, sometimes lower cincinnus with 2 flowers, upper rachis with bract. Flowers pedicellate, pedicel 0.2-0.5 cm long; bracteole white, apex pink, folded around bud, base hairy, 4-5 cm long, deciduous or persistent; calyx white, apex pink, tubular, 3-3.5 cm long, shortly 3-lobed, deeply split unilaterally, outer surface minutely pubescent; corolla white, tube 1.2 cm long, lobes oblong, outer surface sparsely pubescent, margin ciliate, dorsal lobe 4 by 3 cm, lateral ones 3.5 by 1.8 cm; labellum dark yellow, triangular, convolute, 4.8 by 5.2 cm, with red stripes and spots at center, apex emarginate; staminodes linear, 0.4 cm long, with red stripes; anther 2.2 cm long; filament 1.4 cm long; stigma funnel shaped, apex densely hairy; style slender, 3.5-5 cm long; epigynous glands massive, united at one side, yellow, massive, 0.4 cm long; ovary green, villose, 1.0 by 0.8 cm.
• Fruit capsular, orange red, globose, 2.3-3.5 by 2.5-3.0 cm, smooth, with white spinous hairs. Seeds 60-120; aril white, membranaceous.

• 台灣 : low elevations in northern Taiwan.
